Spend your summer turning theory into megawatts. As a Summer Engineering Intern on a small, high‑impact site engineering team at a commercial nuclear station, you’ll work under the guidance of experienced mentors to solve real plant challenges. You will apply core engineering across hydraulics and pneumatics, steam systems, electrical distribution, control systems, heat transfer, and nuclear fission to support daily operations and maintenance. Day to day, you’ll troubleshoot and support repairs, evaluate field conditions, run standard analyses and procedures, and help drive reliability and performance improvements that optimize the station as a whole. Along the way, you’ll build depth in a specific discipline while gaining hands‑on exposure to how complex, interacting systems come together to safely produce electricity.

Qualifications: currently enrolled in an accredited engineering program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Some of the responsibilities for our plant internships are listed below:

· Learn safe work practices at the plant and participate in hazard identification during pre-job briefs

· Apply knowledge to actual operating failure modes experienced in the fleet

· Piping and Instrumentation Drawing reviews and updates

· Support the validation of daily operating procedures

· Participate in daily activities associated with the safe and reliable operation of the plant (including such items as: preventative maintenance routines, startup and shutdown activities)

· Intern will work with the equipment on how to analyze and troubleshoot equipment problems

· Conduct field walk-downs and mark-ups for plant change documentation

· Be part of an improvement project to present to the management team at the conclusion of the internship.

  • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
  • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
  • Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
