Position Specific Description
Power Generation Division Environmental Specialist Internship position: Under direct supervision, this entry level technical internship performs and documents site environmental inspections of stormwater management system functionality, spill prevention control and countermeasures and civil integrity. Following SOPs referenced from Standard Methods, EPA, and FDEP. Develops knowledge and skills within a specific practice area. Works on small projects or portions of larger projects related to the site environmental compliance management system. Candidates must have cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to be considered. Some of the responsibilities for our chemistry internships are listed below: · Compliance Assurance – Support continuous verification Environmental Management System (EMS) · Environmental Event Response - Field support and management of environmental issues, proactively identify and resolve site specific compliance issues to prevent or minimize environmental impacts during events · Support quarterly site-specific operational environmental compliance assessments and inspections ahead of EMS due date · Environmental record retention / management · Properly manage waste generation · Job may include other misc. duties as assigned. Those pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental, Earth Science and Chemistry related fields will be considered. Applied field experience desired but not required. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists department with assigned projects
- Completes challenging projects and assignments
- Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
- Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

- Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
- Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
