Position Specific Description

Join the world’s leading generator of wind energy as a High Voltage Technician at NextEra Energy. As a Field Operations High Voltage Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our high voltage electrical systems. You will assist in the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of high voltage equipment and infrastructure.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the inspection and maintenance of high voltage equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
  • Collaborating with senior technicians to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults and failures within the high voltage system.
  • Conducting routine tests and measurements on high voltage equipment, accurately interpreting and documenting the results.
  • Assisting in the commissioning of new high voltage equipment, adhering to engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Participating in the scheduling and coordination of maintenance activities, minimizing disruption to the electrical system's operation.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance and condition of high voltage equipment, promptly reporting any abnormalities or potential issues.
  • Assisting in the repair and replacement of faulty high voltage components, ensuring timely restoration of power supply.
  • Following established safety protocols and procedures while working with high voltage equipment, minimizing risks to yourself and others.
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, repairs, and spare parts inventory.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in high voltage technology through continuous learning and professional development.

Job Overview

This entry-level position provides basic support to field operations, collection systems, transmissions, and substations.  Additional responsibilities may include field support of senior-level technicians in project management support and contractor oversite within a specified geographical region while ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to the power grid.  This position has training requirements to be met within the first 12 months of employment and requires substantial (>70%) supervision and work oversight.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • With technical oversight, performs basic work in the construction and maintenance of all substation, transmission, and collection system equipment
  • Participate in the repair of all high voltage equipment within an assigned geographical area with the appropriate technical oversight from higher-level HV Technicians, resources from ERCC, Technical Services, and Supervision
  • Establish and maintain high voltage inventory, equipment, and vehicles within an assigned geographical area to company safety and maintenance standards
  • Responsible for completing assigned Maximo work tasks with cross-functional assets, resources, and supervision
  • Maintain compliance and non-compliance maintenance schedules
  • Participate in quality initiatives while learning and utilizing company quality tools
  • Maintain adherence to company safety culture, policies, and processes while meeting all safety targets
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations, and market requirements
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 1+ year
  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree

 

The estimated base pay for this position is $49,600.00 to $74,400.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
