Position Specific Description

The PV Solar & Battery Technician II will play a crucial role in supporting the operations and maintenance of NextEra Energy's photovoltaic (PV) solar and battery storage systems located at Shamrock Solar located near Big Lake, TX. As a member of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team, the technician will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance and reliability of clean energy systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections of systems to identify and address any maintenance or performance issues.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including cleaning panels, replacing faulty components, and performing tests to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system failures, utilizing technical knowledge and monitoring tools.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to implement and execute maintenance plans and procedures.
  • Coordinate closely with the construction team during the installation and commissioning of new solar projects.
  • Generate reports and maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and equipment conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies during all work activities.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in solar technology and maintenance techniques.

Job Overview

Employees in this role are responsible for the operation and maintenance of solar generation equipment on multiple solar power plants to achieve safe, efficient, and environmentally sound plant operations. Successful candidates apply a working knowledge of troubleshooting electrical components and equipment to include the use of digital multi-meters, meggers, and amp clamps.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains all tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in a safe and efficient condition
  • Provides inspection of watch, electrical, mechanical, and electronic troubleshooting for a solar field equipment
  • Performs switching and grounding of medium and high voltage equipment
  • Performs daily inspection for cooling system discrepancies, mechanical component breakage, and electrical component failures preventing solar field equipment from operating as designed
  • Travel to other sites will be required

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 1+ years
  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
