Position Specific Description

1. Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Conduct advanced quantitative and qualitative financial analysis to understand the organization's financial health.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial reports, providing insights to inform key business decisions.
  • Prepare high-level monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including management reports.
  • Analyze historical data to project future financial performance and prepare financial models for forecasting and planning.

2. Reinsurance Accounting and Reporting

  • Maintain and reconcile reinsurance general ledger accounts, including ceded premiums, losses, payable and recoverables.
  • Prepare and process reinsurance settlements with reinsurers.
  • Review and reconcile bordereaux submissions.
  • Monitor reinsurance treaties to ensure compliance with terms and accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes, including preparing journal entries.
  • Preparation of reinsurance schedules for the annual and quarterly statutory financial statements (specifically Schedule F)
  • Monitor collateral requirements and balances.
  • Coordinate with claims, underwriting and actuarial departments to ensure consistency in reinsurance data companywide.
  • Prepare detailed reinsurance schedules and reports for senior management, auditors and regulators.
  • Assist in streamlining reinsurance accounting processes and improving reporting efficiency.
  • Stay updated on regulatory and industry changes related to reinsurance accounting and reporting.
  • Ability to manage large data sets.

3. Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Identify potential risks in financial processes and recommend improvements for mitigating those risks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during reviews and audits.

4. Strategic Support and Initiative Management:

  • Provide data-driven insights to support strategic initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, and other complex projects.
  • Assist in the development of strategic business plans and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage and oversee assigned financial projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.

5. Process Improvement and System Integration:

  • Drive process efficiency improvements through the application of automation, AI, and advanced analytics.
  • Work with IT and other departments to ensure seamless integration of financial systems and data reporting.
  • Lead initiatives to upgrade financial processes, ensuring they’re scalable and adaptable to business needs.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with operations, IT, finance, and executive leadership to align financial plans with business goals.
  • Communicate complex financial data and insights to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Mentor and guide junior analysts and team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Job Overview

Employees in this role supports Senior Management decision making via financial modeling, including but not limited to, revenue requirement and customer bill impacts, discounted cash flow analysis and financial statement modeling.  This position identifies and conducts complex analyses of financial impacts of issues and/or decisions facing the company and proposes strategies to maximize financial performance of company.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Identifies, analyzes, and communicates to management the impact on the Company's financial structure, profitability, financial integrity, and competitive position utilizing relevant analytical methods and/or department’s forecasting models
•   Provides financial analysis support for various projects, calculating revenue requirements, net present value, customer bill impact, etc.
•   Provides expertise, support, and financial training for the company departments requiring these services
•   Performs financial analyses as required by management or regulatory bodies
•   Makes recommendations on financing decisions and executes long and/or short term financings
•   Prepares PowerPoint presentations to be provided to Senior and Executive Management 
•   Acts as a mentor to lower level employees
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  High School Grad / GED
•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
•  Experience: 6+ years

Preferred Qualifications

•  Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance
•  Master's - Accounting / Finance
