Position Specific Description

Florida Power & Light Company is looking for a Fiber Network Strategy, Standards and Operations Manager to join their team at the LeJeune Flagler Office in Miami, Florida. The Fiber Network Strategy, Standards and Operations Manager oversees the development and implementation of strategies to optimize the performance and expansion of all aspects of a fiber optic network. This includes establishing and adhering to industry standards for network design, installation, and maintenance. 

 

The role is responsible for:

•    Coordinating with various teams to ensure efficient operations, including network engineers, technicians, field operations, and information technology specialists. 

•    Monitoring network performance metrics, identifies areas for improvement, and implements solutions to enhance reliability and speed. 

•    Collaborating with vendors and contractors across all aspects of the network including but not limited to the procurement of equipment and services necessary to deploy and/or maintain the network. 

 

Overall, the Fiber Network Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the deployment and ongoing reliability, security, and resilience of the fiber optic network.

 

For this role, 5+ years’ experience in telecommunications fiber network design and operations plus a Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field are highly preferred.

Job Overview

Employees in this role lead multiple cross-functional project teams consisting of matrixed or direct reporting relationships to meet or exceed business unit safety, reliability, financial and schedule goals while ensuring compliance with all environmental and regulatory requirements for assigned company projects. Individuals generate product schedules based on stakeholder input and maintain adherence to them to meet in service dates. This position is responsible for reviewing actual spend compared to forecast spend based on project schedule progress for assigned projects.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with project engineering, construction leads, and business unit planning as well as other company departments 
  • Develops and updates project schedules, budget forecasts and cash flows
  • Mentors and trains other project managers, project engineers, or construction leads
  • Leads meetings associated with assigned projects
  • Updates leadership on project status
  • Assesses feasibility of potential business unit projects
  • Communicates project specifications to internal and external personnel
  • Manages multiple complex projects successfully
  • Acts as project sponsor for Total Safety Culture for assigned project teams
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: 8+ years
  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 3+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's - Engineering
